1. Acceptance
By using the Dote website or services you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use them.
2. What Dote is
Dote is a marketplace that connects dog owners with independent dog walkers. Walkers are independent and are not employees of Dote. Dote sets the price of each walk, and walkers choose which walk requests to accept. Dote does not provide dog walking services itself. When an owner sends a walk request, it is offered to walkers nearby, and the first available walker to accept is assigned to the walk.
3. Current status
Dote is growing city by city, and the number of available walkers varies by area. Information on this website is provided for general purposes, and availability may change.
4. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your account secure.
5. Requests, prices, and payment
The walker's price is shown before you request. Payments are processed by a third-party payment provider. You agree to pay the price shown for walks you request.
6. Cancellation
Cancelling is free before a walker is assigned to your walk. After a walker is assigned, a fee of 30% of the walk price applies, shared with the walker for their time.
7. Owner responsibilities
- Give accurate information about your dog, including health needs and any history of aggression or escape.
- Keep your dog's vaccinations and licensing current as required by local law.
- Make sure your walker can safely access your dog.
8. Walker responsibilities
- Complete identity verification and a criminal background check before your first walk, and accept periodic re-screening.
- Follow applicable leash and animal laws and the owner's reasonable instructions.
- Keep location tracking on during walks and add a photo as the app requires.
9. Screening and safety
Screening checks records at a point in time. Dote does not guarantee that any walker or walk is free of risk, and does not guarantee the conduct of any user.
10. Reports and disputes
If something goes wrong, report it through the app or at hello@doteusa.com. We will review reports in good faith.
11. Acceptable use
Do not misuse the service, interfere with it, impersonate others, or use it for anything unlawful.
12. Disclaimers and limits of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is," and Dote is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for the acts or omissions of independent walkers or owners. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
14. Changes
We may update these Terms and will change the date above when we do. Continued use means you accept the updated Terms.
