Home / Become a walker

Walk dogs in your neighborhood.

Accept the requests you want, on your own hours. Dote sets a clear price for every walk and pays you once a week.

Why walk with Dote

Clear, upfront pricing

Dote sets the price of each walk based on the needs of the dog, and you are paid for every walk you complete.

Your schedule

Accept or decline any walk. Your availability stays yours.

Paid weekly

Your earnings are paid to your bank account once a week.

Walks come to you

Walk requests come to you, and the first walker nearby to accept gets the walk.

What you share during a walk

During each walk you keep location tracking on and add photo updates for the owner, including potty breaks and cleanup. It takes seconds, and it is a big part of why owners trust the walkers who accept their requests.

Who can walk with Dote

  • You are 18 or older and legally allowed to work in the United States.
  • You have a smartphone and a government-issued photo ID.
  • You are comfortable and experienced with dogs of different sizes.
  • You can pass identity verification and a criminal background check.
  • You agree to keep location tracking on and send photo updates during every walk.

How onboarding works, step by step

1. Apply

Fill in the short application below with your name, contact details, area and experience with dogs.

2. Verify your ID

You upload a photo of your government ID and a selfie. Only the Dote verification team can see them, and owners never do.

3. Background check

You give consent and a third-party screening provider runs a criminal background check. See how screening works.

4. Sign the agreement

You read the Dote walker agreement and sign it online with your typed name and drawn signature. You get a copy by email.

5. Learn the standards

A short guide and quiz cover dog handling, safety, emergencies, photo updates and GPS tracking.

6. Go online

Once approved, set your area and availability. Requests near you are sent to your phone, and the first walker to accept gets the walk.

What the walker agreement covers

This is a plain-language summary. The full agreement is the one you read and sign online during onboarding, and it controls.

  • How you work: you choose when you are online and which requests to accept.
  • Pricing and pay: Dote sets the price of each walk and shows it to the owner first. You are paid for completed walks once a week, to your bank account.
  • Safety rules: keep tracking on, send photo updates, never leave a dog unattended, and report any incident right away.
  • Cancellations: what happens if you or the owner cancel a walk.
  • Privacy: how you may use owners' addresses, photos and pet information, which is only for the walk.
  • Insurance, taxes and liability: how these are handled, and your responsibilities as an independent walker.

Your documents stay private

Dote uses them only to verify who you are, and we do not show them to owners. Read our Privacy Policy.
